impostorsyndrome: (zz you can be Orwellian if you want to)
Need to contact or crit me, or opt out of playing, or anything else? HMU here! You can comment on this entry (anon is on and comments are screened), PM this journal, or catch me over @ [plurk.com profile] benthic.

A NOTE TO CANONMATES:

I'm happy to play with any canonmates! When it comes to Servants, Kadoc has no reason to recognize most of them in a "serious"/game context (i.e. when it's not a meme where we're playing fast and loose with that for fun, which I'm always up for). He will recognize:

1. Servants who appeared in Lostbelt 1

2. Plot Servants who appeared in the chapters from Fuyuki to Babylonia. My read of his situation in canon is that he was given an infodump/visions by the Alien God of what happened in the Singularities of Part 1 of FGO, excluding Solomon, and so he will recognize any Servant who was canonically there for the plots of those chapters, but not any from any other context (so no Epic of Remnant, Interludes, Events, or just Servants the player happened to throw in their party in a pure gameplay sense).

In borderline cases where it could be argued either way, e.g. whether he would recognize Vanilla Artoria when he's aware of multiple other versions of her from plot chapters, I err on the side of him not knowing, just to avoid anything infomoddy.

If you want me to make an exception to this because it's fun, let me know! It can easily be worked out that he did, for example, see Ritsuka fighting alongside Ibaraki in Babylon or whatever. It's just not an assumption I'm going to make without permission.

Alternatively, if I am actually flat-out wrong about what he knows about the events of Part 1, whether it's because I'm misremembering or misunderstood a scene or because more information is revealed in a Lostbelt chapter I haven't played yet, please do let me know and I'll adjust, lol. I don't mind some spoilers for upcoming stuff (and know many of them, but not all, clearly).

Any Servant who wants to can recognize Kadoc for whatever reason and I'm cool with it, even if he doesn't recognize them back.

Isle of Avalon Basics
name Kadoc Zemlupus gender Male canon Fate/Grand Order
canonpoint post-LB2 prologue familiar D'yavol Tron magic type Light
age 19 height 174 cm/5'9" weight 57 kg/126 lb
30-Second Summary
A relatively unskilled mage from an unknown family raised in a society where neither of those things meant he could expect kind treatment from his peers, Kadoc Zemlupus grew up kind and caring at heart anyway, but with a gigantic chip on his shoulder. He calls himself a "walking inferiority complex." Kadoc overworks himself to the point of tears and poor health to achieve his goals, striving to prove to himself and the world that he deserves a place in it at the top—even if he doesn't truly believe that himself. Lacking natural talent, family resources, and a support network, he relies on twisted strategy and pure grit to get himself where he wants to be . . . and when everything he worked for is taken away from him through no fault of his own, he does not react well, to say the least. The Kadoc we meet in Lostbelt 1 has come a long way from being the shy mythology nerd with a gentle smile who worried primarily about the wellbeing of others, but he does still have that heart beating underneath a cloak of bitterness and suspicion. In the aftermath of canon events, those traits are slowly surfacing once more.
Appearance
build underweight
hair silver
eyes gold
first impressions Kadoc looks like a guy who hasn't slept in way too long, because he hasn't; he worked himself into a state, presumably with the help of magecraft, where he was capable of dreaming without sleeping and no longer needed sleep at all. But however he managed this, it obviously took a physical toll on him, as people are able to note how exhausted he looks all the time. At around 20 pounds underweight for his height, it's also very possible he used similar techniques to avoid needing to eat as much as he normally would. Whether or not magic was involved, Kadoc is pale and skinny, with dark circles under his eyes, unkempt hair, and baggy clothing.

features Other than the above, the most noteworthy aspect of Kadoc's appearance is his jewelry. He wears a big, sharp, ornate statement ring on his right index finger, two hoops and an industrial piercing in his left ear, and a vertical barbell in his throat, near his Adam's apple. He does not have the red Command Spell tattoo on that hand that's visible in some icons.

body language Kadoc's body language is noted as being extremely closed-off, as if he's constantly protecting himself from the world. He keeps his arms (or knees when sitting) near his chest a lot, has bad posture, and generally takes up as little space as possible. He doesn't enjoy people getting too close to him in a literal sense and will shrink away from physical contact, unless you manage to get close to him in a less literal sense—or are just the sort who will bully him into it. (These are often the same thing.)

Familiar
D'yavol Tron or Дьявол Трон is a massive frost hydra that originates in Kadoc's Russian Lostbelt, an alternative history of Earth. See the link for the skills that it has in battle! The Lostbelt D'yavol Trons are absolutely massive, but Kadoc's in Avalon is much smaller, around the size of a ball python. It is capable of growing to its true Lostbelt size in extreme circumstances such as battle, but Kadoc doesn't know this just yet. As of right now, Kadoc is still fairly diffident towards his familiar, considering it the hydra's bad luck to be brought to Avalon and stuck with Kadoc (not to mention shrunk down so tiny!), and doesn't call on it of his own volition—it's the hydra that has to check in on him from time to time and remind him of its presence. Kadoc calls it Kovalyov and secretly thinks it's pretty cool.

D'yavol Tron's body produces a fermented, wine-like liquor; Kadoc is aware of this about them, but probably will not take advantage of this for his own benefit. Probably. He's definitely keeping that info in his back pocket, though.

  • Basic Potato (Recipe): "Instantly grow a single potato in the ground with this spell, regardless of magic type. You still have to dig it up and find a way to cook it, but in an emergency, it can be a life saver."
  • Seeds of Binding (Item): "A very small bag containing 5 seeds. Plant 1 seed in the ground and it will act as a trap in a circle for about a 30 foot radius around where it is planted. Anyone who is not in the circle when it is planted will be ensnared by vines if they cross it. Those who were inside are considered friends and will not trigger any ill effects. 1 seed lasts about 6 hours. They require special soil unavailable in New Camelot to cultivate."
  • Bling Bling, Bitch (Spell): "A spell that immediately covers the target in rhinestones."
  • Everwarm (Potion): "Drink this to stabilize your body temperature, preventing freezing or overheating."
  • BEES! (Spell): "Summon all the bees in the area to swarm. Essentially uncontrollable, so you cannot pick a specific target. As the bees are hypnotized, animal mages cannot talk them out of swarming. Control lasts 10 minutes, which is plenty of time to do a lot of damage."
  • Mirror Mirror (Item): "A special compact mirror, encrusted with strange symbols on the outside. Stare at your reflection in it and think of another mirror. Your reflection will disappear and you will be able to see out of the mirror you have in mind."
  • Bitten Dust (Potion): "Dehydrated potion turned to powder in a vial. Pour it into your hand and blow it onto your intended target. It will knock them unconscious for 30 minutes. Plenty of time to make sure your enemies bite the dust, or for you to become dust in the wind. The vial contains enough for 2 uses."

backtagging Yes please, but I tend to lose steam once a thread is about a month old unless it's actively in the middle of some action or development, and I may drop it if it's not, especially if we have a newer thread.
threadjacking Go for it, especially on the network; let's chat first if it's in person, but I'll likely still say yes, I love this shit.
fourthwalling Not for this character at this time.
physical contact Kadoc ICly is not a fan. OOCly, I encourage people to do it anyway if it's IC for them, whether that's by ignoring his boundaries or getting close enough to him that he stops caring. I love a good snuggle.
violent contact Let's keep in contact for this, but it's all good! I am not very good at lengthy fight scenes, though.
sexual contact/shipping Kadoc is a tough sell, but I'm not opposed to whatever develops. Neither player nor character have any particular limits re: canon/crosscanon, gender, or species. No characters under 16, please!
death Let's be in contact for this. I could go either way depending on the circumstances.
mindreading/other sensing Let's also discuss this on a case by case basis! But I'm easy about this stuff.
triggers I have none in particular and will aim to warn for anything that comes up in threads on my end. Please contact me if there are any specifics or issues to discuss!
    Warnings
Kadoc's history nudges up at times against themes of suicide and ideation; this isn't a part of his current mindset, but it's definitely a part of his past. I will do my best to do a combination of avoiding the subject and warning for it if it's going to come up. You can also opt out of interacting with him for this or any other reason right here!

    Character Details
    Age let's say 19 Hair/Eyes Silver/Gold
Height/Weight 174 cm (5'9") / 57 kg (126 lbs) Notable Traits Kadoc looks like a fucking mess, being underweight, pallid, and disheveled, with heavy dark circles around his eyes at all times because he literally doesn't sleep thanks to poor magecraft decisions. He also holds himself with terrible posture and very closed-off body language. He has two rings and an industrial in his left ear and a vertical barbell near his Adam's apple.
15 Second Summary Relatively inferior mage with a few outstanding abilities worked his ass off to get himself into a position to prove his life had meaning, only for that to be stolen out from under his nose through no fault of his own, leaving him dead without ever having accomplished anything of worth. He got better but did not react well to that, hoo boy! His TYPE-MOON wiki entry.
    Abilities & Permissions
Abilities Kadoc is a Nasuverse mage, and while he's not very powerful, he's good enough to do a number of minor spells that I personally am probably going to have to look up every two seconds myself. I am not going to list them all here because I straight up don't know them and will probably avoid having them come up casually in play lol. As mentioned above, he does have the ability to go without sleep indefinitely, though this clearly takes a toll on him, and he can and does also still dream, presumably while in some sort of restful meditation. He is also good at some other things like board games (shogi etc.) and wilderness survival techniques. He is smart and scrappy and has some magical tricks up his sleeve, basically, but he is not anything special as a mage. And boy does he know it!
Permissions I'm good with about anything! Contact me if you need or want, or I'll contact you if I need or want, otherwise nothing of note here.
Sensing He is apparently good at covering his tracks physically speaking, but he is a mage if you can sense magic, and he did also die if you can sense that? He came back but ??? wild shit man

Tanaka Animal Shelter and Rehab is an animal refuge and rental stable located on the southwest outskirts of the main city of Camelot! This location was conceived of and owned by Gundham Tanaka originally, but with Gundham's departure from Avalon, Kadoc is taking it over and expanding the business, keeping Gundham's name attached to it.

The shelter consists of the main offices, the stables, a medical office to treat injuries, an indoor facility to house recovering animals not ready for the outdoors, and fenced hutches and pasture ground to house permanent outdoor residents.

    Services Offered:
    • Stable rental for horses, if you have a horse that needs boarding and upkeep
    • Wildlife refuge for animals that can't be released into the wild
    • Care and rehabilitation for animals that can be released back into the wild eventually

    Staff and Volunteers:
    • Kadoc Zemlupus
    • Asterios
    • Beowulf
    • Robyn Goodfellowe
    • Kazunari Miyoshi
    • Jean Kirstein
    • Mikasa Ackerman
    • Crow

Kadoc will be actively looking to take on help, especially Animal Mages and Healers, as he's neither of these things and knows they'll be vital for a business of this type. He's just a guy with a lot of wilderness experience who inherited a shelter! He'll seek out those magic types, but also anyone else with general animal experience, especially horse experience.
